ARCHIVE DATABASE

The archive database consists of a large number of digitised images and other information about Bishop's Cleeve, which was compiled originally by Mike and Sheila Ralls (up to June 2010).  The database, provides a digital record of village life from the latter part of the 19th Century until the middle of the 20th Century.  However, this record could not have been compiled without the generous donation of images and other information by village residents and others, interested in recording this period of the village's history.

The archive was captured in high resolution, low compression form in order to retain as much of the detail as possible and allow areas of the images to be enlarged (where original picture quality permitted).   However, those pictures viewable from this site have had their resolution reduced to facilitate relatively rapid downloading.

The content of the archive, compiled as at June 2010, has been stored on 2 data DVDs. Copies of the archive are held by: Bishop's Cleeve Parish Council; David Aldred; Eunice Powel; Bishop's Cleeve U3A Local History Group; and John Burton - who has also now taken over this website.
